This year for burningman I decided that
"Dammit, I want an art car... No matter what!"
So I am starting small..
The first car I am calling EC1 for Electic Cart #1.
Its a temp name, as I figure we'll give it a real name
when its completed.
So here it is from San Jose, Ca.
--- PS: If anyone has any wheelchair motors, I sure could use em! :)
1 This is from the first day of work on the cart. Jan 20, 2002,
This weekend I really didnt do anything (Jan 27) as I am waiting for parts
to arrive. I did however clean the frame, and dry fit into the back
seat of my car. Shweew! It fits!, I also painted it. The paint
is only temp, as I will have to still do *alot * of gringing on the frame,
but at least way it should not rust too fast. Next weekend
(Feb 2-3) I should be getting alot done, Hopefully the front end as the
parts should be in by then. This car will have actual suspention,
and the front end should not be too hard.
2 - Not really a work day. This past weekend I didnt work
on the cart at all, but I did recieve my front end parts.
3 - This weekend (2/9-10/02) I should get the front end mostly
built, and I should have ordered the rear end parts.
update... Got lay'ed off from work...2/8/02 so.. need to get a new job!
OK, .. I finally got the front end pictures uploaded,
and this page is done...
Day 4 - This should be the final front end
pics, when I get it done, Still havent done it yet... Kinda been working
on my resume and job hunting instead. (3/10/02) Also, now looking
for the motor I will use, and about to order the read end parts.
2002 final - Just before the event, I jerry-rigged everything into
place, John showed up mid week during the event with the controller, and
I put it all together. I had some junky batteries, and made it all
work. It worked for 1.5 days until the controller popped, and the
cart took off on its own, and smashed into Alison's car (campmate).
July 2003 - I took
a week and went to LA to where my dad has a shop, and we worked on it for
a chunk of that week, then I came back to San Jose, and began the assembly,
along with getting all the wireing done. This year I decided I wanted
the cart done more proper, and safer. So there will be extra safety
pre-cautions built in this year, like a relay shutdown method for the motor.

I found I needed to do some circle calculations, so I stole this for
