Well, it just figures. I can't find my notes from the August 21 meeting.

So here's what I remember -- feel free to provide any details that I've missed.

There was no A&S session.

Rob is continuing to look into new sites for events in our area. A couple of
people made suggestions and offered to check out sites in their neighborhoods,
but I don't remember who. The principality seneschale told me that they are
also looking to develop new sites for principality and kingdom events, so
please continue to keep your eyes open. Principality sites need to be at least
20 acres, with land for various activities, camping and parking. Kingdom sites
require about 80 acres. (Boy, I hope I'm remembering those numbers correctly
-- that just sounds huge to me.)

Items were solicited for a Caer Darth gift/prize chest.  There is no deadline;
we're looking for small items that can be donated as prizes for various
competitions or passed on to the Baron and Baroness to give as gifts.
Suggestions include small needleworked items, like bookmarks or needlecases,
soaps, candles, blah, blah, blah.

The calendar opens for first round of events on September 1st. I'll be
requesting either April 29 or May 20 for the Poacher's Feast (May 5-7 is
Beltane Coronation; May 13 is Mists Investiture). Second round calendar picks
open on November 1st; Brigit, please let me know your first and second choices
for the rapier event.

The autocrats of the Baroness' Masked Ball (Oct. 22) have asked for games booths
during the day. We can set up table & board games, gambling games, whatever
types of games we wish. The event is being held at Bolado Park, and the games
will be set up on the field during the day -- unless it is raining, and then
they'll be set up in the covered walkway outside the Blue Room. Please think
about what types of games we could run, and we'll be working on the booth at
the October Canton meeting. Also, since Hawks Haven's Turkey Tourney was
bumped for the Mists/Cynagua War, activities scheduled for that event will be
held at the Masked Ball, including a rapier tourney.

The next scheduled meetings are:

Sept. 11 - the A&S portion will be a field trip to the AoA workshop that
Mistress Eliska has set up at the Rabbit's Foot Meadery in Sunnyvale, noon to 5
(as I recall). I'd really like a good showing from "Team Caer Darth." Carpools
can be arranged. Please RSVP to Ellie or to me, so that we can make sure there
are enough scrolls for everybody to have something to work on. This is a good
opportunity to learn about calligraphy and illumination -- some of the best
scribes in the kingdom will be available at this workshop to help you out, and
you don't need to be a fabulous artist to contribute. If you can color within
the lines, you'll do just fine! After the workshop, we'll adjourn to a nearby
restaurant (or perhaps regroup back in Santa Cruz) for the business portion of
the meeting.

Oct. 16 - no location yet. The A&S portion will be construction of our games
booth for the Masked Ball. Business meeting will follow.

Nov. 20 - no location yet. The A&S portion will be 12th Night clothing. Books,
patterns and brainstorming will be available to help you figure out what to
wear. Business meeting will follow.

I think that's it. If I find my notes, I'll post updates.

Rose, yer seneschale
