Chris and Rhonda's Cross Country Road Trip

Packing and loading / Day one.. The road...

Welp..  Day one came and went by FAST...  Its currently 3:45 AM, and man.. WE are BEAT!!! So until tomorrow night, all you get is the pictures of the day.. They are not organized, and not set up in any way.. We'll up load , and change this page tomorrow night, that way as we drive one of us can get the web page built...  Just a hint.. the images that start with a THM are thumbnails, the ones with AUT are the big ones, with the same name.

Currently we are staying in the Hampton Inn, in Concord, New Hampshire.   The plan is to get up early eat the continental breakfast, then go BACK TO BED... After all today is my 31st birthday!

Packing actually started long ago, like close to a month ago, when Rhonda started pulling all the boxes out of the basement, and began to pack all the things that she could that she would not need for a while.  So when I arrived on Wednesday night, most all of the hard work was done.
First thing Thursday morning, we drove off to the Ryder place to get the truck.  The truck was a 15' van with a  towing hitch.   We ran a few errands with it first, and then went to her place to start loading it.   The errands were to get a good hand truck, and then meet up with some friends to have lunch.   We got the hand truck, and a portable CD player for the drive, and then went to lunch.  Lunch was not what we planned as the friends got called to work on some last minute things, so we ate alone.  We will just have to have them over to OUR place for lunch now! heh..
Back at Rhonda's place we loaded up the truck with everything which basically took all day for the 2 of us.  We started with filling the above cab area with boxes, then put 2 wardrobe boxes on each side, with the kitchen table in the middle.  As it turns out the Ryder trucks have this cool little access door from the cab into the cargo area, so I decided to take FULL advantage of it.   Which by the way is a VERY good thing!  Each night we unload a TON of stuff into the hotel room, and that's where we store it during the drive, in the cargo area.  Its very easy to use also.   From there, we put all the appliances on one side, and the bedding on the other, with the futon in the middle.  Technically, we can get to the futon, if one of us needs to rest while on the road.  Then from there, the  last REAL bear was the desk.  The good ol monster

desk from hell... Its a real nice desk, but man... set it up , and hope you don't have to do it again!  It took us about a full hour of taking it apart and stowing it away in the truck before we were done and happy with it.  In the process, Rhonda got several cuts and bruises, and I  smashed my finger.  But its loaded, and we already have a new home for it! (NOT with us...:)  So then around 10 PM we were done, and all set to go.  The car was loaded, the engine was running, and we left...
Our plan was to see the White Mountains on the way out of Boston, because Rhonda figured I would like it.  So we headed up to New Hampshire, and got a room at the Hampton Inn, in Concord, NH.  After looking at various maps on Friday morning we decided that maybe we should postpone seeing the White Mountains until another time.
