Marc and Laura's Wedding, June 25, 1995

It's fortunate that we have such good friends. Marc's mother's friend, Linda (who'd gotten Laura the job in the first place) offered to sub for her classes the Friday before and the Monday after the wedding. Okay, so we'll have to postpone the honeymoon a bit (as of this writing in January '96, we still haven't taken it), but the pressure to rush back immediately post-ceremony is off. Plus, we have a couple of days breathing space in front of the Big Event. All is good.

Or is it...?

Eleven days before the wedding, our friend Sarah, who lived across from Laura for two years in the Crown dorms at UCSC, calls up. Seems she can't be a bridesmaid, because she's working as a legal intern for the summer in Washington, DC, and the case her mentor is working on has really heated up so she's not going to be able to take the time off to fly back to California for the wedding. She's really sorry but, what can ya do?

Panic returns. Do we go with a staggered number of bridesmaids and groomsmen (not that it's going to be totally traditional anyway, since Laura's friend Todd is acting as person of honor), or do we look for a replacement?

Continue into the madness...
