One of the KPFA callers queried Joe about literary influences, to which he
responded with Kafka's short stories (specifically "A Hunger Artist", "In The
Penal Colony", and "Conversation With The Supplicant"), Doestovsky ("Notes
>From The Underground" and "Brothers Karamazov"), Mann ("The Magic Mountain"),
and Czeslaw Milosz (a poet who has also written a number of
autobiographical/philosophical works). Any Milosz recommendations? Thanks.

(The caller also mentioned an interesting sounding book by Ernest Becker
called "The Denial Of Death".)
