So the immediate question is- What big changes do I need to know
about?
It is spelled out in section V.A. that the fighter calls the blows
delivered unto them. Effectiveness cannot be called by anyone outside
the armor, however, information unavailable to the fighter (blow
placement, orientation of the blade, etc) may be supplied by the
Marshals or the opponant. This is not a practical change, it is just
now actually written out.
VI.F.1 - "Rigid basket or cup hilt" (as opposed to metal) This takes
all the plastic and hardened leather basket hilts out from being
experimental!

Leg Armor
1. The kneecap, **an inch above and below**, and both sides of the
knee joints must be covered by rigid material, lined by at least ¼
inch (6mm) of closed-cell foam or an equivalent padding. This armor
shall be attached in such a way that the knee remains covered during
combat.
(the Western interpretation of **an inch above and below** will be
literally an inch above the patella (the wiggly cap portion of your
knee) and an inch below. These must remain covered in all your fighter
positions. If your armor rises when you kneel then the ground had best
be protecting the "inch below" portion.)
2. Combatants should wear footwear that provides adequate protection
and support for the terrain and activity of combat. (we will further
discuss if the "sturdy boots covering the ankle" will remain Western
law with TM)
VII Weapons Standards- All the general info is in the beginning and
not repeated in every section- PLEASE READ THIS WHOLE SECTION! The
highlights are that thrusting tip sizes are now minimum 1 1/4" by 1
1/4" (Our classic LPTT)is now standanrd for ALL one handed swords and
mass weapons, 2"x2" on all rattan weapons that are not one handed,
3"x3" on all fiberglass spears/pikes. Cool huh? Please read it for
yourself for clarification! We will still require all one handed
thrusting tips to be RED and to be announced when you take the field.
VII.G Throwing weaons- this is thrust and throw rattan spears. Check
it out!
So those are the highlights that will effect you the most- all other
western conventions still apply until stated otherwise.
MARSHALS- the Society Marshal section and the Western marshal section
are the same so review this well!
