I am tentatively scheduling the first meeting of those interested in
having a fencing practice in the Monterey area for 7pm, Tuesday, 6/20/06.
For now, figure the meeting to be in Pacific Grove at the park known as 
"Lovers Point". If
that changes I will let you know. There may be fencing after the
meeting, and it may, or may not, be official SCA. So, bring your gear
if you wish.
The main order of business is to see who shows up, and to decide
things; like do we want it to be an official SCA practice, what are the
goals of the practice, and to handle procedural issues like getting
sanction from the local group, barony, and marshalett as needed.
My personal goal for the practice is to create an environment where
fencing is taken seriously and taught systematically. The rest is
details. Sure we want to have fun. And turning out a winning tournament
team is not at all the goal. But I would like to gather with those who
wish to learn the art of fencing as an art and are willing to give it
some level of personal commitment.
