Unto the Fighters and Marshals of Darkwood.
Greetings! I hope the new year finds you well. In two weeks on Feb. 5th, the
West will be holding a War Collegium at Berryessa Park in San Jose. Darkwood
will be fielding a force. This event is an official Darkwood War practice.
The following attachment is from Konitessa Mari. Those who wish marshal
training should come and take the classes.

Greetings to the Kingdom-
February 5th is the annual Western War College. This is a day to
fight, learn tactics, learn new weapon techniques and become a
marshal or advance your marshal status. To this end, the Earl
Marshal and his lovely assistants will be conducting two marshalling
classes.
The first class will begin at 9:30 am. It will cover the finerer
points of marshalling war fighting. Along with this class and the
practicum of marshalling the fighting during the day, you can be
advanced to "MM" which indicates that you can be a marshal for mixed
combat- in other words- combat with archers and seige. If you
already have this status- this class will be a great refresher and
if you are not an advanced marshal, it will give us the opportunity
to assess if you are ready to become one. It will be very helpful to
you to read the marshal handbook (on line at westkingdom.org in the
marshal section) before class.
If you are fighting that day, Duke Fabian asks that you come to
class with all your preliminary armor on so it is fast for you to
get ready to fight when class is done.
At 10:30 or so, Duke Fabian will teach a class in War Tactics. These
techniques will be practiced during the day.
After fighting has run down for the day, Sir Thomas and his lovely
assistants will teach a marshalling class that is focused on tourney
marshalling. There will not be a practicum to follow- but it will
ready you for the tourney season and clarify some confusion that may
exist. Again, reading the Marshals Handbook prior to class will be a
great benefit.
We hope to see you there!
Konitessa Mari Alexander
Deputy Earl Marshal- West
