Developing applications using XTI or TLI
XTI (the X/Open Transport Interface)
is a library of functions used to write
networked applications over a variety of transports.
This chapter provides an overview of XTI,
and describes the concepts that underlie writing programs that use it.
This chapter also discusses the differences between
XTI and two other APIs
(application program interfaces) that are also often used for
writing network applications:
TLI (the Transport Level Interface)
and Berkeley sockets.
Both TLI and sockets are available on SCO systems.
