Searching in the document set

Searching in the document set

Use Search to search for a given search word in the current help topic, in the entire help library, or in any subset of the library you define.

To start your search, click on the search toolbar button or select Search from the Navigate menu. When the Search window appears, enter the search word in the ``search'' field.

NOTE: Search only performs single word searches.

If you specified ``current topic'' and Search finds the search word, it scrolls to the first occurrence of the word in the document. Use the Next and Previous buttons to continue or retrace your search.

To specify search scope, select specified books from the Search window. After the search window expands, specify the scope of your search by selecting the books or book sets you want to search (A book set is a set of guides and reference manual pages for a specific technology area). To select a book or book set, click on the the one you want and select Add. You can add or remove items from the search scope at any time.

Click on Search to begin your search.

If you are searching beyond the current topic and your word is found, Search lists the books and topics containing the word in the search results window. If the word is found in more than one book or topic, the books and topics are sorted by the number of occurrences of the search word.

NOTE: If you get a large number of search hits, use the Add bookmark tool on the toolbar to add the Search results page to your Bookmarks list. This makes it easy for you to return to the search results window without rerunning the search.

When you select a topic from the search results list, Search opens the topic and scrolls to the first occurrence of the search word. To continue the search in the current topic, use the Next and Previous buttons.
