SMC 8216 Ethercard Ultra and 8416 EtherEZ

To complete the installation of an SMC adapter, follow these steps:

  1. Use your DOS setup utility to configure the adapter.

    CAUTION: During SCO setup, make sure you set the Address Mode to Shared RAM.

  2. Use the Network Configuration Manager to configure the driver.

  3. After completing the configuration, take the system down and cycle the power before bringing it up again.

Sometimes after a system upgrade, the system does not recognize SMC 8216 or SMC/Western Digital 8003/8013 network adapters configured to use these parameters:

If your system does not recognize your network adapter, use init 0 to bring your system down, then power cycle to reboot.
