Because this is an EISA adapter, begin the configuration process by running your machine's EISA configuration routine. Next, configure your adapter, then run the Network Configuration Manager to configure your networking driver.

Because this is an EISA adapter, begin the configuration process by running your machine's EISA configuration routine. Next, configure your adapter, then run the Network Configuration Manager to configure your networking driver.

Although it is not necessary for best performance, sharing of interrupts is possible with the NE3200 adapter. To enable interrupt sharing, use the EISA setup program that came with your system to configure multiple NE3200 devices to use the same IRQ.

If your setup routine does not let you configure multiple NE3200 devices (some older Novell setup routines do not), you may have to complete this procedure to enable interrupt sharing:

  1. Use an ASCII editor to edit the DOS file !NVl0701.CFG found on your configuration diskette.

  2. Find the line containing the string TRIGGER = LEVEL.

  3. On the next line, insert the string SHARE = YES. The resulting section should look similar to this:
       TRIGGER = LEVEL
       SHARE = YES
       INIT = IOPORT(1) LOC (2-0) 001-101

  4. Save the file.

  5. Copy the file to your EISA system configuration diskette.

  6. Use the EISA configuration utility that came with your machine to configure multiple NE3200 adapters to use the same interrupt.
