Deferring or reconfiguring network configuration

Deferring or reconfiguring network configuration

During installation, Netscape servers are configured with default settings for the ``ServerName'', ``Hosts'', and ``Addresses'' fields. If you reconfigure TCP/IP, your Netscape server might no longer be properly configured. To configure the Netscape FastTrack Server after deferring or reconfiguring networking configuration, edit the appropriate configuration files:

  1. In /usr/internet/ns_httpd/admserv/ns-admin.conf, set ``ServerName'' to the string returned by the hostname command.

  2. Set the ``Hosts'' and ``Addresses'' to the hostnames and IP addresses allowed to administer this server.

  3. After setting these variables, restart the admin server.

  4. You can now use the Netscape Administration Server to further configure the server:
These changes will not take effect until the server is stopped and restarted.

Changing the hostname

To change the hostname of your SCO OpenServer or SCO Internet FastStart system, follow the instructions in ``Changing the system name'' (http://osr5doc.sco.com:457/MailMsgG/mmdfD.troub_sysname.html) in the Mail and Messaging Guide (http://osr5doc.sco.com:457/MailMsgG/CONTENTS.html), skipping step 4 unless you have removed sendmail and installed MMDF.

Before rebooting (step 7), edit these files to replace all occurrences of the old name with the new name:

/usr/internet/ns_httpd/admserv/ns-admin.conf
/usr/internet/ns_httpd/httpd-80/config/magnus.conf

Changing your IP address

Using the SCOadmin Network Configuration Manager to change your IP address does not remove the old entry from /etc/hosts and does not change the /etc/default/nbconf file properly. You must manually remove the improper entry from /etc/hosts and make changes to the following entries in /etc/default/nbconf:

NB_ADDR
NB_BROADCAST
NB_NAME
