Adding a SCO Gateway for NetWare printer

Adding a SCO Gateway for NetWare printer

A SCO Gateway for NetWare printer is a UNIX system printer that is configured to send print jobs to a printer located on a NetWare network.

Install and configure NetWare printers on the appropriate NetWare servers before adding a SCO Gateway for NetWare printer to the UNIX system.

To add a SCO Gateway for NetWare Printer to the UNIX system:

  1. Log into the UNIX system as root.

  2. Log into the NetWare servers with printers you want to configure to. See ``Viewing SCO Gateway for NetWare printers'' and ``Logging into a NetWare server''.

  3. Start the Printer Manager.

  4. In the Printer Manager window, select New SCO Gateway for NetWare from the Printer menu.

  5. In the SCO Gateway for NetWare window, enter the UNIX system name of the new printer and select the printer model of the NetWare printer.

  6. Click on Select to start the NetWare Printer Selection window.

  7. In the NetWare printer selection window, select a NetWare server. Then click on Expand Full to view NetWare print servers and print queues for the selected server.

  8. Select the desired file server, print queue and print server. Note that your selection is displayed in the lower left corner of the window.

  9. Click on OK to return to the SCO Gateway for NetWare printer window.

  10. In the SCO Gateway for NetWare printer window, the chosen NetWare file server, print queue and print server are displayed in the NetWare Configuration area.

You can edit the NetWare Configuration choices. In fact, the NetWare Printer Selection window (activated by the Select button) is an optional convenience. You can enter the file server, print queue and print server directly in the NetWare Configuration area.

  11. In the SCO Gateway for NetWare printer window, select Any Print Server to allow the first available printer attached to a NetWare print queue to service the print job.

  12. When you are satisfied with the SCO Gateway for NetWare printer setup, click on OK.
