Chapter 4, Administering and using LAN Manager Client

Logging on to a server

Logging on to a server

On user-level security servers, LMC users must authenticate themselves to the remote server before any access to that server will be permitted. This authentication is done using the lmc logon command (refer to lmc(LMC) for more information). The LMC user must have access to an account on the remote server, which may require a password to provide authorization.

The lmc command to access server jupiter's ADMIN command would be:

lmc logon jupiter ADMIN

The user will then be prompted for a password for this account. (If there is no password, just press <Enter>).

To allow users to log on to the server, the administrator should ensure that access has been provided to the user, and the administrator should also supply the LMC user with the account name and password that can be used to access that server.

For more information, see lmcrc(LMC).
