'THE BOY CAPTIVES" by Clintton and Jefferson Smith. True
Indian story available from Clint Smith 1-800-523-4277 In 1869
the Comanche Indians captured two of the Smith children, one was adopted
by the Comanche Chief Tosacowadi (Leopard Cat)
and the other was sold to Geronimo, (name given
by the Mexicans meaning Jerome) Indian name Goyathlay
(meaning one who yawns). They lived as Indians for several years before
recapture and sold back to their parents. This is about the
only story about life as an Indian during the Indian wars and a real inside
look at Geronimo as a Father and Chief of the most feared tribe.
As the oldest Clint was able to give a good insight on Indian life during
that time period. The two boys felt that the Indians were their parents
and they feared the "Whites".
