                  Convicted killer to be executed for 1979
                  murder

                  HUNTSVILLE, Texas (AP) -- A murder case that
                  began with a 79-cent purchase made more than
                  21 years ago could come to a close with the
                  execution of the convicted killer.

                  John Satterwhite, 53, on Wednesday faced lethal
                  injection for the fatal shooting of a convenience
                  store clerk during a robbery.

                  His execution would be the third of six scheduled
                  for this month in Texas and the 29th this year in
                  the nation's most active capital punishment state.
                  At least 10 other death row inmates have lethal
                  injections set through the end of 2000, which
                  could wind up a record year for executions in
                  Texas, topping the 37 condemned prisoners put
                  to death in 1997.

                  Satterwhite already had been arrested eight times and been in prison for
                  burglary and robbery by assault when he was charged with the March 12,
                  1979, killing of Mary Francis Davis, 54, after walking into the Lone Star Ice
                  and Food Store in San Antonio under the guise of buying a pack of
                  cigarettes and a soft drink.

Note:  Frankie Davis Glenn, Author of "Capt. John" stated that one of her cousins was killed in a robbery while shopping  many years ago and the killer had been sentenced to death but hand not been executed.  because of the name the may be the person.

 my names dave davis,i was born queens L.I.N.Y.1960.MOVED TO louisville ky at 2yrs lived in orphans homes and foster homes till 14yrs went to army at 17yrs then at 18 went over to cg in sept 78 to taney until may 80 in 88 went to
electronics school have engineering degree and have worked on all forms of xray equipment.my favorite occupation
was working at the tracks churchhill downs and keeneland,ellis park and others.now im 41yrs and have had 11
operations to date.my father worked for churchill downs he died in july 98,he wanted to be creamated and his ashes
scatered in the winners circle and that is where he is.please thank your son chris and anyone else for all the help they
give you.i know im very gratefull for their suport.i need to mention my job at the tracks was fixing the tote boards and
the wagering ticket machines.i was involved in tearing out the asbestos in curtis bay maryland and i have trouble
breathing and had a colapsed right lung in 90, i suspect the asbestos is the cause.i have 1 grand daughter 4yrs old
