Consulted on stability, performance, and security issues with NT, Samba, and
Unix. Provided dual protocol disk
sharing solution to Unix and NT clients using Samba 2.0.5a. Planned and built
the Engineering Computing NT Infrastructure in Folsom. Provided primary day-to-day level 2 support
of over 700 PCs under a multi-master domain model running Windows NT 3.51/4.0.
With a team, engineered, migrated, stabilized, and optimized as the environment
migrated from NT 3.51 to NT 4.0. Resolved issues as users migrated from low-end
RS/6000 boxes to Intel architecture using eXceed for chip design.
Trained internal staffs regarding to support issues, and provided quicker and
more straightforward resolutions.

System Management Lead, July 1996 – October 1997
Engineered the migration of the environment from OS/2 Warp to Windows NT
4.0 Workstation. Planned and executed mail services migration from Lotus Notes
3.2 to Notes 4.1, then to 4.5. Refined update processes by remotely updating
PCs on site using IBM NetView DM/2 to install a standard software stack onto
new ones. Redesigned the site by expanding the network to include developers in
another building using a point-to-point T1 link with Larscom Access-T routers,
IBM 8229 bridges, IBM TokenRing CAUs and LAMs.

both environments as the effort transitioned from
