Worked in a consulting capacity with all facets of the organization in providing product guidance and software implementation for the entire product suite.  Architect and maintained a multi-vendor test lab consisted of RADIUS, TACACS+, DNS and terminal server services, varying family Cisco switches/routers, Juniper M/T/E-series routers, ATI, Riverstone, and Extreme Summit/Alpine switches to support ongoing engineering and sales efforts. Responsible for 1.8TB of NFS based disk storage for Engineering Computing.  Migrated data from non-supported servers onto reliable IBM Netfinity 7000 with EMC backend. Consulted on stability, performance, and security issues with NT, Samba, and Unix.  Provided dual protocol disk sharing solution to Unix and NT clients using Samba 2.0.5a. Planned and built the Engineering Computing NT Infrastructure in Folsom.  Provided primary day-to-day level 2 support of over 700 PCs under a multi-master domain model running Windows NT 3.51/4.0. With a team, engineered, migrated, stabilized, and optimized as the environment migrated from NT 3.51 to NT 4.0. Resolved issues as users migrated from low-end RS/6000 boxes to Intel architecture using eXceed for chip design. Trained internal staffs regarding to support issues, and provided quicker and more straightforward resolutions.

IBM Global Services (Contract)

System Management Lead, July 1996 – October 1997

Engineered the migration of the environment from OS/2 Warp to Windows NT 4.0 Workstation. Planned and executed mail services migration from Lotus Notes 3.2 to Notes 4.1, then to 4.5. Refined update processes by remotely updating PCs on site using IBM NetView DM/2 to install a standard software stack onto new ones. Redesigned the site by expanding the network to include developers in another building using a point-to-point T1 link with Larscom Access-T routers, IBM 8229 bridges, IBM TokenRing CAUs and LAMs.  Provided desktop and server support for OS/2, Windows NT, Lotus Notes in both environments as the effort transitioned from Sacramento to New Zealand. Linked two development sites by setting up a 128kb link to New Zealand via SNA over TCP/IP through AnyNet both as a DDCS gateway for DB2/2 and a link for Lotus Notes between New Zealand and Sacramento.
