Here's a sampling (what I can remember) of the exciting Internet-related folks I've had the honor to meet In Real Life.
All of these people seem to know everything.
- Elite
- Hackers
- Tsutomu Shimomura (Takedown Kevin) @ pre/post-Burning Man 2000.
Originally met @ a El-Wire party in late 1999, he was wearing sandels and a SkyTel; apprantly I was the only one who dropped my jaw (I was one of the few sobber guests).
At last count his house had four different wireless technologies deployed.
- Open Source
- Cliff Skolnick (Apache Group) @
BAWUG's first meeting in late 2000. Cliff and I were regulars chatters on #www (an EFnet channel) in the mid 90's. I remember him talking about showering and living at work (Organic at the time). These days we work together on various wireless projects.
- ISP
- Tim Pozar (The Little Garden) @ another BAWUG meeting, very good presentator. Seems to have a e-mail fetish, recently spotted at Disappearing, also
existed at Brightmail for awhile.
- IRC
- Bob Vaughan (Admin of EFnet server irc.stanford.edu) @ seattle wireless meeting #4 (2000/12/28).
Ironically he was the only one connected to the net at the meeting, wirelessly via Ricochet. He runs FreeBSD, smart man.
