Subject:            SOFTWARE AND APPLICATIONS POLICY

The IT Group is currently in the process of updating our formal policy regarding software and applications to reflect a post-outsourcing IT environment.  Until this policy is completed, however, it is critical that all employees continue to follow the guidelines listed below.

*        Only software and applications installed by Lam's IT Group are allowed on any Lam PC/laptop or server.

*        All installations are to be completed by an IT Desktop Analyst (DTA).  As an example, if you purchase a PDA (such as a Palm Pilot), a DTA will install the synchronization software.

*        Expect an approval delay on "one-off" non-standard software.  IT needs time to test and protect business critical applications before any software or applications are exposed to the network.

*        No pirated or unauthorized software is allowed on any Company owned PC/laptop.  IT will ensure licensing compliance.

*        The Company maintains the right to remove unauthorized/self-installed software or applications.

This is a serious issue and violators of this policy are subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment.

If you have any questions regarding this policy, please contact the IT Help Desk (x8100) for clarification.
