----------------------------------- Well it looks like I never got to typing much yesterday.. That will happen though.. there will be days that I write things, and days that I do not.. Yesterday I pretty much got up, and started working on the computer. I was going to go to storage, and work on things there but It rained.. So I stayed in, and did a bunch of computer work. I make up projects in my head all the time, and then do them. My current computer setup is really just 2 computers for now. I have many more, but they are all in storage, and day to day, I really dont need them. So my 2 machines, are both gig machines, one had a 6 gig booting drive, and a 60 gig daya drive. the booting drive has 4 gigs for FreeBSD, and 2 gigs for windows 98/2000. the 60 gigs is my data drive which I use in FreeBSD mode with Samba running. That machine, aslso has a CD and a tape drive. I have that so I will force myself to keep doing unix stuff while I am out of work. My other machine is a different case, but the CPU and motherboard are the same as the other. Oh, the FreeBSD machine has 512 megs of ram.. So the other machine, is my main working machine. It has 256megs of ram, and has a 30 gig drive in it. I need to re-format it and break up the drive into various OS'es.. For now, I am borrowing a 1.5 gig drive From Mike, and thats my boot drive. So this machine, also has a DVD drive, and a CD-RW drive. Also, the case has all the outputs on the front which is kinda cool.. it has a special cable in the back that allows me to connect everything there, so the outputs are on the front. (USB, Sound, Joystick..) So this project I started recently is to rip all my CD's into MP3's and store em on my data drive. I started this a long time ago.. Only thing is , that I was using simple42 to do this with, and after a while I figured out that this caused some problems which I didnt like. It gave the music a "tinny" sound to it.. kinda like a high pitch tamberine sound which kinda ruined the sound to me. So I picked up another program (CDex) and this seems to work better. Its cool cause I can rip with both CD's at the same time.. (DVD and CD-RW drive) I ripped many CD's to MP3, then put a new CD todayther, and burned it, and tested it in the car. It sounds good.. Only it has other problems which I think it the burning software now.. I'll deal with that later.. My main goal is to ripp all my CD's for now, which will take days to get done. Its 1 PM and I'm hungry.. I'm thinking about gettign some food, and maybe going to storage today. I want to talk to the people at storage anyways, and have them switch which credit card they charge my rent to. Seems dumb that all this time I have been using a Capital one card for my monthly bills, when I should have been using my Citibank, so I can earn more AA miles! Rhonda used to call me a "miles ho" cause if I could get miles somehow.. I would.. like hotel's, etc.. To continue stuff from April about my past.. Lets see.. Charlies place.. oh man.. that was 2.5 years of a joke.. I learned alot from that place. I actually liked it.. maybe I think that because it was the last time I had my own "place" but also cause it was away from town, it had clean air too.. and we could do damn near anything we wanted there from massive bonfires to explosives.. We never really did airials mostly because of fire danger in the tree's.. I mean we did things semi-responsibly.. Just because someone likes fire and explosives does not mean that that person is a terrorist, or some nut case.. I think you'll find that most guys do like that kinda stuff. Just you have to draw the line on what is ok, and what is not.. IE I never blow things up that can harm someone, or something, or someones property. Same thing with fire. And I dont need to do the actual lighting of the fireworks.. I just enjoy watching em.. I'll get into that stuff later, all about the 4th of july's that John and I used to have. So charlies place was basically a cabin with some trailer trash loosers living in it, and it took me 3 weeks to get them to move out so I could move in. During that time, Glenn and I build a large room adjacent to the house, and when we finally got them out, we cut a doorway into the new room from the old place. We more then doubled the house by doing that. Then over time we added a wall inside the room, and a closet for the one room, and also another room to be a kitchen. So by the time the structures were built we in effect tripled the size of the place. The deal was this.. I move in for 400/month, and that price will never go up as long as I stay there. I get to add to the house, or improve as much as I want. Also in the beginning I was the "property manager" and I would collect the $ from the other loosers on the property.. Well that was damn hard, as most were just people with no jobs, that stayed drunk with any $ they could come up with. Most lived in junky trailers, and just didnt care about life. They just wanted a free or cheap place to live where they could do nothing, and be left alone. Charlie would bring people in like that hopeing to get them to go to his church.. He went to one of those pentacotal or whatever brand churches.. After Glenn went, and described it to me I coined it the "stop-drop-and-roll" church.. as apparently Charlie would drop and the floor and roll around like he was possessed or something.. whatever is what I would say.. And charlie would try and try to get me to go.. Well you have to believe in religion to want to go in the first place.. so I would not have anything to do with that. I think one of the worst, is sometimes on sunday, he would invite the church over, and set up the big ol speakers his deck, and black religious music all through the canyon.. One thing to note also, is we lived in a canyon, where he was at the top, with a massive deck, and could look down on all of us. We were about 200' in elevation below him.. Think he's a power monger? Naaawwww..... ok I'm hungry.. food time.. we'll see what happens next.. I may go to
storage.. its 1:25 now..
