10:30 AM Battletech, 3025 AD. Phil Chiu kicks off a classic Battletech campaign. As this will be an ongoing campaign, experience will be awarded to all as well as any booty! Simple salvage rules will be used. And now Phil sets the stage:
Human civilization controls countless worlds spanning distances over a 1,000 light years. When the great Star League dissolved in 2781, five great houses (Draconis Combine, Lyran Commonwealth, Federated Suns, Free Worlds League, and Capellan Confederation) emerged vying for total domination of the Inner Sphere. This conflict has lasted nearly 300 years with no clear victor. Outside the Inner Sphere lies a region called the Periphery, a harsh and untamed area dominated by pirates, refugees, villains, and other sorts of riff raff. It is here that two competing pirate guilds have discovered a small Lyran outpost ripe for the taking. And now a bunch of small-time pirates are out to make a name for themselves...
10:30 AM English Civil War. Interested players can join Terry Matheny for an overview of a possible ECW campaign. Also, there will be practice games in 25mm using the Warhammer Ancient Battles ECW system. (I think Scenario still has a copy or two of the rules.)
10:30 AM Renaissance Tactica. Der Schlechte Krieg 1500 A.D. While many combatants during the Renaissance era despised each other, a special hatred existed between the Swiss and the German Landsknechts of the Holy Roman Empire. This special urge to kill one another was known as Der Schlechte Krieg (The Bad War). Under Emperor Maxmillian, an Imperial army has crossed the Alps to protect the Empire's interests in Northern Italy. The Swiss national army (not French mercenaries) are determined to get rid of them. Grab the red banner and lead Die Verlorne Hoffe. Renaissance Tactica hosted by Chris Salander and Bb Burke. 15mm. Up to six players.
11:00 AM Battle of the Bulge. On Christmas Day, 1944, elements of the 67th Armored and 41st Armored Infantry threw themselves against the tip of the western-most German penetration during the Ardennes Offensive. They were joined by the 82nd Armored Recon Battalion and some wandering British of XXX Corps. They faced off against elements of the 2nd Panzer, including the 3rd Panzer Regt, the 2nd and 304th Panzer Grenadiers, the 2nd Recon Battalion and the 38th PanzerJager Battalion. Guaranteed to test your nerves, your tactical skill, and your frustration levels, just like the real thing. 3-6 players, and should have time to run two games in the day session. If enough interest (and wife says "OK") will continue to run games into the evening session as well.

Up to 8 players.
1:00 PM Fire & Fury. Pete Michels hosts an ACW game in 15mm ACW. This event will be a small scenario set in heavy woods to playtest grand-tactical scenario rules for use with the standard FireNFury ACW rules. Up to 6 players. 15mm ACW troops provided. Some knowledge of the rules is preferred but not necessary.
5:00 PM Pirates! Thomas Foss will host this favorite and offers the following the scenario: A storm had knocked the Princess Daphne's escort fleet a full three days off course. All ships have been repaired, but with only two days left before the wedding, the princess has ordered you to take the quickest possible route. So you've laid a course through the dead sea, and before you is an undead Fleet looking for a booty call. Pirates! 3rd Edition. 8 players
5:00 PM Aerodrome II. Stan Kubiak (Master of the Skies) will host Aerodrome II featuring WWII air combat on the Russian Front in 1/100 scale. Stan's Aerodrome events typically consist of several short scenarios, so there will be plenty of opportunities to play. These games are great for beginners and veterans.

October 11

10:00 AM Battleground WW II, by Lawrence Goslinowski. It was a dark and stormy night for the Heer of the Third Reich! Spring approaches, brining with it the Barbarians from the East. The orders have come from on high: Stop the enemy's advance! New weapons will arrive to help you do this! Think of the Fatherland, or at least your wives, daughters! The questions are these:
  1. Will the meager recourses of this ad hoc Panzergrenadierkompanie, supported only by assets of an Anti-Tank Platoon and a Heavy Tank Platoon, have the courage to halt the advance of Soviets?
  2. Are you willing to play?
6 players: 3 German, 3 Soviet. If enough desperate players volunteer the Soviet side can be augmented by up to 2 additional players.
10:00 AM Once Upon a Time in the West Country... by the Tactica Crowd, using Renaissance Tactica. English Civil War, 1642 - 43, Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, etc. Without the big names (and big egos) of the central theater, can commanders like Hopton and Waller use the Cornish Foot and Haselrig's Lobster cavalry to win the Southwest for King or Parliment? A 15mm extravaganza for 6 players, all figures provided.
5:00 PM GMT's The Napoleonic Wars by Ix Nichols. Yes, a board game on the SBGC schedule! This is the GMT game covering the entire Napoleonic Wars from 1805-1814. Take control of one of the 5 major powers (France, Britain, Austria, Russia or Prussia) and struggle for dominance over Europe. There are only 2 sides (you're either a subject of Napoleon's or trying to kill him), but only one player can win. This is not a stodgy, monster board game; card-driven events and subtle game mechanics keep every turn unpredictable, and the game can be over in as little as 2 hours. Up to 5 players, no experience necessary (this will be a learning game for everyone). You can download the rules, or check out these designer's notes, including a synopsis of the cards.
5:00 PM Kampfgruppe Command, by Jon Baldwin. A hypothetical scenario, assuming that Hitler had to fight for Czechoslovakia. 1938, German forces meet stiff Czech resistance during the invasion of the Sudetenland. Microarmor, 4-6 players.

11:00 AM The Battle of Koshien 16th Century Japanese Samurai! The clan of Hanshin had ruled the province of Daiei for only 14 years when their rule became unbearable to the small nobles and common people of the province. Lord Atsushi Fujimoto organized the people of the province to do battle with the warlord, Lord Makoto Hanshin. The two forces met at Koshien. The rebels received the help of some Monks (notorious social activists), hired some Ronin, and even resorted to using the banned gunpowder weapons. Lord Hanshin was not impressed. By Chris Salander, using 15mm Renaissance Tactica.
11:00 AM GMT's The Napoleonic Wars by Ix Nichols. Up to 5 players, no experience necessary (this will be a learning game for everyone, including the guy running it). You can download the rules if you want to get a head start on learning them. You can also check out these designer's notes, which includes a synopsis of the cards.
1:00 PM The Spanish Civil War, by Pete Michels. Nationalists and Republicans will be having at it again. Republicans will be attacking during the Brunete offensive of July 1937. Rules used are Rapid Fire! with most of the SCW supplement rules. 8 players.

5:00 PM Vampire Hunt! A pesky vampire and his minions have really dampened the weird stone collecting in the south end of Mordheim, so the Wizards' guild has put a 1,000 crown price on every vampire head brought in. This could be the lucky break for your gang! Using Mordheim, for 3-5 players (any less than 3 and everyone is zombie kibble). Restrictions: beginning gangs only, must be humans or dwarves; GM will provide up to two gangs for players if needed. The winner that kills the vampire gets to keep the painted miniature!

11:00 AM La Petit Armee by Roger Mark, with help from Chris Salander and Mark Hauck. This is a high-level Napoleonics game, with maneuver elements representing brigades and a turn representing about 30 minutes. The object is to be able to play out very large battles in a short period of time. Roger and crew will be running a later (1812ish) Peninsular War battle with 10mm figures for up to 6 players.
12:30 PM U.S. 3rd Armor Breakout at Mortain, France by Pete Michels. After CCB defeated the last German SS counterattack 3 days ago, CCA and CCR of the 3rd Armor, along with the 212th and 213th RCTs, have gone over to the offensive and must push past the Wehrmacht forces holding the lines east of Mortain.

Elements of CCA and CCR, 3rd Armored Division, will attempt to breakthrough the remaining German defenses, attacking down 2 parallel roads. The Germans defenses will have to slow down the U.S. forces as long as possible until reserves can reach a 2nd line of defense. Rules are Rapid Fire! 6 to 8 players.

2:00 PM Patton Rules! These are experimental operational-level WW2 rules by Kent Reuber. Dissatisfied with other sets of rules, Kent has done what all gamers do - written his own. These are based on (don't laugh) Chipco's "Fantasy Rules". The rules are still very much "up in the air", feedback is welcome. The scenario will probably involve a few German divisions attacking American positions in the Ardennes in '44. 2mm figures, 1 stand = 1 battalion, 1" = 500-1000 yds. (If anyone has any of these "wee beasties" that are unwanted, Kent will take them).

Scheduling Policy

If you'd like to submit a game, you can mail it to the webmaster. Please include a brief description of the game, a start time, and the size/number of tables required. If you don't specify a time, the game will be scheduled at either 10:00 AM or 5:00 PM (whichever the scheduler considers more convenient), and the default table size is 4' x 8'.

You may include downloadable files with your game description if you think it will help players prepare or increase interest in the game, but please provide them to the webmaster in a common readable format (such as PDF, text, HTML, JPEG, GIF, etc.). Many people can't read MS Word, Excel and Power Point files, so please be forewarned that the webmaster will grumble at you in a religious vein about internet standards if you submit files in one of these formats.

As a matter of policy, the club does not post contact information for individual members on the Web site. If you wish to have an e-mail address or phone number listed with your event, you will have to make the request explicitly each time you offer a game. Also, if you want a favorite link added to the web site, provide the URL and a brief explanation of why the link might be of interest.
