December 14

10:30 AM Middle-Earth Tactica. Bob Burke and Tom Rogers will host a 25mm Middle-Earth game using Medieval Tactica.
10:30 AM Antietam, by Matt Hilzendrager using Brother Against Brother.
10:30 AM Battleground. Matt Velentgas will run a 15mm WWII skirmish game using Battleground 1.01. Beginners welcome.
10:30 PM Gladiator Combat. Mike Chase will host a game of man-to-man gladiatorial combat in the arenas of Rome, using 100mm figures. Combats will be the classic Retiarius (Trident and Net) vs Samnite (Sword and Large Shield). A lion, cheetah, and hippo may also make an appearance in the arena.
4:30 PM Star Wars: Epic Duels, hosted by Mike Chase. A series of short battles between your favorite Star Wars characters, including Darth Vader, Darth Mal, Yoda, Obi-Wan, Boba and Jango, Han and Chewie, Anakin and Padme, and all more. Skirmish gaming with the 4-inch Kenner figures. Beginners (and kids) welcome. Note
5:00 PM Aerodrome 1.1, hosted by Stan Kubiak, Master of the Skies. This set of short, quick-play scenarios will feature mid-war aircraft, with a couple of new scenarios.

November 9

10:30 AM. Bloodbowl. Not a tournament, just a round or two of fun, quick-play fantasy football hosted by Dave Love and Dave Smith. They have a variety of teams available, but bring your own if you like.
10:30 AM. Wars of the Roses. Another free-for-all using Steve Schifani's Wars of the Roses variant for Warhammer Ancient Battles plus the No-Pain Campaign system. Players can bring their own 800-point retinue as described in this Wars of the Roses Army List.

If you want to participate but do not have figures, feel free to contact Gary about borrowing a retinue (built to your specs, if possible).

10:30 AM Operation Sealion. Jon Caudil will host a WWII event, "Fight on the Beaches." 6-8 players needed.
10:30 AM The Battle of Lamia, by Doug Lange using Tactica. 15mm figures provided.
10:30 AM Spartacus. Chris Salander hosts Ancient Tactica. An army of rebel slaves led by a few gladiators takes on the mighty Roman army. 6 players. 15mm figures provided.
10:30 AM Habet Hoc Habet. Round-robin mini-tournament, using 100mm figures. Man-to-man gladiatorial combat in the arenas of Rome. Combats will be the classic Retiarius (Trident and Net) vs Samnite (Sword and Large Shield). Each player will have a pair of combats with each of the other players, switching Retiarius for Samnite for the second combat. Hosted by Mike Chase.
4:30 PM Shieldwall. Another introductory game using the new Shieldwall rules, hosted by Gary Price and Darrell Empey. This game will match the formidable Normans against a poor, helpless Viking horde. Up to six players. Figures provided. (Note: Scenarios now carries the Warhammer Ancient Battles rule set and all the supplements, including Shieldwall.
4:30 PM Habet Hoc Habet. Jim Yonemura will host a new round of gladiator games using Habet, Hoc Habet! from Flagship Games. 25mm figures provided.

October 12

10:30 AM Line Ahead, by Ix. It's the 1757, the British have lost Minorca to the French, and they want it back. Players push big fleets of sailing men-o-war (20-40 ships per side), and use real flag signals to communicate. This is a simple game and plays fast - there will be 2 or 3 games before 4 PM. 6-10 players, GM provides everything but the silly accents.
10:30 AM Shieldwall. An introductory game using the new Shieldwall supplement for Warhammer Ancient Battles. This game will be a series of small, interrelated skirmishes to give players a chance to learn the rules and the troop types.
10:30 AM For God, King, and Country! hosted by Bob Bergman. Defend His Majesty's right to rule, or lay on for the Parliamentarian cause in a 6mm English Civil War using "Ironsides" (published by Howard Whitehouse in MWAN 93), with some of Bob's modifications (see http://www.lawbob.com/bob.htm). Two games will be run simultaneously if enough people participate.
12:00 AM. Archon II (Picquet ancients system). Romans versus Carthaginians hosted by Ray Latham. Interested players should contact Jeff Grien.
4:30 PM Habet, Hoc Habet. Gladiatorial combat hosted by James Yonemura. (Time may change, depending on final scheduling requirements.)
4:30 PM Shieldwall. Another introductory game using the new Shieldwall rules. This one will be a multiplayer, set-piece battle matching Normans against Viking raiders.
4:30 PM Aerodrome II, hosted by the Master of the Skies. This will be 1/144th scale air battle over the European and possibly Eastern fronts. Beginners welcome.

September 14

Probably because it was so recently after ConQuest, attendance at this session was pretty light, but there were still 4 very attractive games running in the morning session (3 planned and one spontaneous), and one spectacular evening game. A good time was had by all who showed up.

10:30 AM BattleGround. 15mm WWII skirmish with Resistance versus the Bosche in 1942 France. Hosted by Matt Velentgas.
10:30 AM The Battle of Zama, Scipio versus Hannibal. This will be a 15mm Tactica game with historically accurate units. Up to 6 players, figures provided
10:30 AM English Civil War using Heroics & Ros 5mm ECW regiments. Rules will be a "Warrior Kings" variant. There hould be opportunity for several short games. Contact Bob Bergman if interested (or email the webmaster if you don't know the email address).
4:30 PM Wars of the Poesies, by Gary Price. This game was scheduled for ConQuest but cancelled at the last minute. It is the latest in the adventures of Wee Willie Wallace (aka Bravefoot!) as he leads the halfling people in revolt against the tyranny of the Imperial Brewmeisters and their heartless thugs and mercenaries. A simplified Warhammer Skirmish, with cool prizes from Will Tijerina (Dark Tower Games). Figures provided. Buildings by Empey. Up to 8 players.

August 10

Our first club meeting at Scenario Hobbies in Fremont.
We are scheduled to meet there the second Saturday of every month from this day forward.

11:00 AM. Habet, Hoc Habet! Gladiatorial combat in 25mm. This will be a mini-campaign with two or three rounds. Room for up to 10 players.
11:00 AM. Screaming GIs. 25mm World War II skirmish action hosted by Terry Matheny and Harry Womelsdorf. Figures provided.
11:00 AM. "Thar's Ghouls in them thar Hills" Wilber Whatley, Ghouls, and Hillbillies with Guns, what else do you need for fun? Based on "The Hills Rise Wild" Cthulhu skirmish game. 25mm figures provided, 4-8 players.
11:00 AM. Lord of the Rings. Skirmish game hosted by Chris Farrell and Jeff Grein.
11:00 AM. Pirates! High-seas fantasy adventure in 25mm hosted by Thomas Foss. Ships and crews provided but feel free to bring you own.
5:00 PM. Aerodrome. WWI air combat hosted by Stan Kubiak. 1/72 aircraft provided.
5:00 PM. Wars of the Roses. Longbows, halberds, pikes, and knights in plate meet in battle using a Warhammer Ancient Battles variant. Players can bring their own 800-point retinue as described in this Wars of the Roses Army List.

July 6

10:00 AM. The Battle of Zama, 202 BC. The climax of the Second Punic War, hosted by Chris Salander. Scipio Africanus brings the war to Hannibal Barca for all the marbles, with Gauls, Greeks, Ligurians, Numidians, and elephants thrown in for good measure. 15mm Tactica, figures provided. Up to 6 players.
10:00 AM. Warhammer Fantasy Battles. Dwarves versus Empire, hosted by Stanley Stinnett and Gary Price. Two 3500-point armies, with room for two additional subcommanders on each side. Contact Stanley or Gary if you want to participate (if you don't know either email address, mail the webmaster and he will forward the mail on to Stanley or Gary for you).
10:00 AM. Habet, Hoc Habet. Gladiatorial combat amidst the decadent splendor of imperial Rome. A wild beast hunt may be in the offing. Hosted by Stan Kubiak.
10:00 AM. American Battlelines by Dave Partak, the Old Man himself. A relaxed playtest of a new set of rules called American Battlelines by Old Dominion Games. Feel free to join in if you're interested in trying out these rules.
6:00 PM The DeWitt Grand Prix, second race. Brian DeWitt will host the second in his 3-game Grand Prix series. "Tune" your own car and try to beat the other players to the finish line using miniature GP cars on each of three different miniature GP tracks. One race per night at 3 consecutive SBGC meetings. The rules are very simple and require no experience (not even a driver's license). Show up early (5:00) to get your car prepared and learn the rules.

June 1

10:00 AM In the Grand Manner, hosted by Robert Baron. Spectacular Napoleonic warfare in 25mm. This game will play-test some rules enhancements to speed up the initial moves and provide more realistic combat resolution.
11:00 AM The Face of Battle by Jeff DiCorpo. June 22, 1941 -- 10 km southwest of Kobrin near the village of Staroje. The 3rd Panzer division crossed the border into Soviet territory early in the day. Now, around midday, it runs into the Soviet 22nd Tank Division sent to intercept the German advance.

This is a skirmish level armor scenario using 'The Face of Battle' (modified). 4-5 players, 3-4 hours.

5:00 PM Aerodrome II hosted by Stan Kubiak, Master of the Skies. This collection of quick-play air combat scenarios (using 1/144th scale aircraft) will be drawn from the Pacific theater.
5:00 PM Wars of the Roses (Warhammer Ancient Battles). Core armies will be provided by Thomas Foss and Stanley Stinnett. All other players should bring a 750-point army as described in this Wars of the Roses Army List .

6:00 PM The DeWitt Grand Prix, opening race. Brian DeWitt will host the first in a 3-game Grand Prix series. May 11

11:00 AM. Wars of the Roses Campaign using DBA 2.0, by Eric Lindberg. Three battles of the Wars of the Roses: Towton, Barnet, and Bosworth. The outcome of each battle determines the nature of the next battle. Lead your faction to dominance or oblivion over 25 years of English history. Includes politics, scheming, treachery, and everything that ennobled the period!
11:00 AM. A Knight in Tunisia, The Battle for Tunis (1535), presented by Chris Salander. His Most Holy and Roman Emperor and King of Spain, Charles V leads a Christian army to North Africa to destroy the pirate kingdom of Khair-ed Din (Red Beard), Berleybey of Algiers. As the Christian army advances over the sand against Tunis, Khair-ed Din has set a trap at an oasis. Renaissance Tactica in 15mm. 6 players, armies provided.
11:00 AM. Battleground WWII, hosted by Lawrence Goslinowski. "CupDeTino Diary", Pacific Island. The US Army has come to the rescue of the bumbling USMC. To cover the operation for "Stars and Stripes," a 90-day wonder journalist and a professional photographer set out in their Jeep to a forward HQ. Hopefully the driver knows the way! If not, well... what could go wrong? The Army has helped the Marines clear out the Enemy, right?
11:00 AM. Axis and Allies (2nd edition), hosted by Paul Melnyk. One- or two-man teams struggle to control the world in this classic WW2 board game. Up to four players.
5:00 PM. Dawn at Chickamagua, Fire and Fury, hosted by Richard Henjus. Four players.
5:00 PM. Duelling Republics, a DBA 2.0 campaign by Ix. Join the Senate of Carthage or Rome and refight the Second Punic War - and help Ix playtest his KublaCon game in the meantime! All players are on 2 sides, but everyone has his own victory conditions. The campaign rules are under construction, but mostly complete, at this link. Up to 8 players (the more the better), everything provided.
5:00 PM. Mega Circus Minimus, by Mike Chase. Chariot Races in ancient Rome on a truly gigantic 24 ft by 6 ft oval racing track. Flipped chariots, running (and soon to be trampled) charioteers, chariot highjacking, all the things that made Rome a fun place. Live the chariot race scene in "Ben Hur". And this one is almost as much to watch as to play, with Roman spectacle galore, plus a bettor's competition among the spectators. Up to 7 players.

April 6

11:00 AM Habet Hoc Habet. Jim Yonemura will host another round of gladiatorial madness using Flagship Games' new rules. Previous players can continue with their existing gladiator school. New players are welcome also. Figures provided.
11:00 AM The Battle for the Balkans. The Renaissance Tactica gang presents the Hapsburg Empire versus the Ottoman Empire (Austrians versus Turks, 1596) in 15mm. Figures provided. Up to 6 players.
11:00 AM Night Action in the Slot. General Quarters, using 1/6000 miniatures. It's late 1942 and the US and Japanese are still battling for the Solomons. Enjoy the excitement of another night action--bask in the glare of searchlights and starshells while threading enemy torpedoes! Feel the cool, salty spray of another near miss as the battle rages into the night! Figures provided. 4-8 players.
11:00 AM Wars of the Roses using Warhammer Ancient Battles. In addition to the fast pace of medieval warfare, this game will give you a chance to experience the changing loyalties typical of a dynastic struggle. Players should plan on showing up with a small, 750-point army. You can download three documents to help you (by clicking on the links below): Some retinues will be available for club members who need recruits.

11:00 AM Ambela, 1863. Sword and the Flame, by Nick Stern. Early campaign between the British and Afghan tribesmen along India's Nothwest Frontier. The British must defend their mountain piquets from repeated Pathan attacks. Up to eight players, 25mm, figures provided.
6:00 PM Duelling Republics. A DBA campaign by Ix. Come refight the Second Punic War in only 4 hours! This will be a quick DBA battle-generating campaign, modified a little so that nobody sits around bored or waiting. Up to 6 players, everything except your smiling face provided.

March 9

11:00 AM Dorm Room Meat Hunt. Yes, this is Fairy Meat. Host Tom Idleman puts it so eloquently: "Come play the game of knock-down, drag-out, cannibalistic, psycho fairy fun! Your fairy will glide... your fairy will pose... your fairy will twinkle... your fairy will ravenously eat his brethren's foot! Played at 1:1 scale (fairies are small, you see). Up to 6 players."
11:00 AM Rorke's Drift. Hosted by Flagship Games, using their soon-to-be-published "Rampant Colonialism". Featuring the beleagured defenders of the Drift versus hordes of Zulu looking to make up for missing out on the massacre at Islandwana. Come for all the 15mm glory you can stomach, with action in the Flagship Games style!
11:00 AM Rapid Fire! A small, deadly encounter between the relatively balanced forces of a US Combat command and a German Kampfgruppe. 20mm.
11:00 AM The Battle of Thomas's Farm. A meeting engagement in the Salwarpee Valley, August 15th, 1862. This game will try out the rules for ACW Volley and Bayonet at the regimental level in 6mm. By Kent Reuber.
5:00 PM Aerodrome. Stan Kubiak, The Master of the Skies, returns with Aerodrome 1.1: Mid-war dogfighting, with a scenario or two thrown in.

February 23

11:00 AM Bloodbowl. The Daves (Smith and Love) will host this demonstration of tutorial of a classic GW game. There will be several fields available and so room for plenty of players to try out a variety of Bloodbowl teams. Also, "a small and not terribly valuable prize is being donated to the MVP chosen by the Daves. This event is a great intro for players who plan to participate in our Bloodbowl League, coming soon to a venue near you.
11:00 AM Piquet. The Battle of Little River Farm (1865). A Union supply depot in the back waters of Virginia protected by parts of the Union 12th corp is a nice quiet place far from the war. Or so they thought... 4-6 players
11:00 AM Warhammer. The Duke's valiant Highlander-inspired Empire army takes on Gary's doughty Dwarves.
11:00 AM. Renaissance Tactica. The Battle of Rocroi, 1643. Can the new citizen army of France defeat the weary veterans of the Spanish Empire? The last big battle of the Thirty Years War. 15mm Renaissance Tactica. 6 players


Scheduling Policy

Remember to send game proposals to Gary Price. The Webmaster just announces events, he doesn't coordinate them. On the other hand, if you don't have Gary's address, you can email the Webmaster, and it will get passed along.

As a matter of policy, the club does not post contact information for individual members on the Web site. If you wish to have an e-mail address or phone number listed with your event, you will have to make the request explicitly each time you offer a game. Also, if you want a favorite link added to the web site, provide the URL and a brief explanation of why the link might be of interest.
