The Robert G. Brown "Electronics NOW!" PLD-GAL Programmer, May 1994. The rgbpld.zip file is the software for the GAL programmer found in the MAY '94 issue of Electronics Now! magazine, and which supports using JEDEC (.jed) files produced by such compilers as OPALJR21.EXE, which is only available SOME places.( ;-> ) This programmer only supports National/Lattice 16V8 and 20V8 GALs, but these have about 6 other makers as well which are compatible, Philips and SGS-Thomson among them. National has sold their PLD to Lattice; these two companies started the GAL principle and line originally. The design requires a cute, but silly, ISA card with only two chips on it, an address comparator LS687, or one of several other 8 bit comparators which do the same thing, and an 8255, which is silly. It only needs access to three data bytes, and it latches them later anyway. More easily done with an old PC parallel port!! He just uses that card as an adjunct to a bunch of his projects, so it MIGHT be nice to have if you buy into his "program"! ;-) But REALLY! Two chips on an ISA Prototyping Board!! Board costs five times more than the two chips and connector together!! -Steve -- -Steve Walz rstevew@armory.com http://www.armory.com/~rstevew/ -Lots of New FTP Electronics Stuff!! 600 Files/37 Dirs (Full Mirror ==> *) -Steve Walz rstevew@armory.com ftp://ftp.armory.com:/pub/user/rstevew * Europe:(Italy) ftp://ftp.cised.unina.it:/pub/electronics/ftp.armory.com * Oz: (Australia) ftp://gold.apana.org.au:/pub/electronics/ftp.armory.com * (U.Cinci) ftp://ieee.cas.uc.edu:/pub/electronics/mirrors/ftp.armory.com *
