County Fairgrounds, Ventura, CA (7/13-14/85)

We had just moved to Santa Cruz in the past month, and this was our first return trip to So. Cal. Pam was now living out here with me, and we made the trip with Eric & Vicky, staying with my mom in Malibu. It had been a hot July, and there were many fires recently in the Santa Cruz Mountains, San Luis Obispo, and other places. During the opening set, a hillside above Ventura started burning, and the Dead acknowledged it with Fire on the Mountain.
