We had to wait over night for tickets to this one, but that was fun anyway. While we were in line, we met a guy who really enjoyed the tape we had of the '81 Long Beach show. He had a friend that would be interested in trading. When I went to his house, he had hundreds of tapes, so I named him the "tape man", instead of his real name, Steve.
Well, now I had finally done it, going to more than one show at the same place. The shows were different, but both were fun. For the first one, I had a date with Stephanie, who had never seen the Dead before. Needless to say, she loved it and we hit it off real well. For the second show, my friends Ernie & Scabe came down from Santa Barbara. We were able to share some good waves, which were some of the best of an otherwise bad winter, and enjoy the show, except for the taper nearby that didn't like Ernie shaking a film container full of tacks, oh well.
