·         Provide support for current Alexandria backup software and ATL tape libraries infrastructure, along with future Veritas backup software environment.

·         Involved in engineering projects to support OS, Hardware, Oracle and SAP upgrades, such as conversion to Euro currency.

·         Rewrote a Geneva Trigger Extract script as part of the Euro upgrade project to remove a 2GB file size limitation in the Geneva Data Purge process.

·         Responsible for administration of Backup systems in order to provide data integrity for ~12 Terabytes of Design Engineering data.  Developed software & support to improve reliability and performance of backups and restores.

·         Backups administrator for Auspex/SunOS, Solaris, AIX, Apollo, and HP-UX Unix environments.

·         Provide support for BudTool backup software and ATL tape libraries.

·         Interfaced with Customer Support Center, customers and suppliers to solve known and potential problems. 

·         Developed automation tools that allowed Design Engineering data to grow 50% from 8TB to over 12 TB while decreasing the headcount needed for support.

·         Created/Updated and implemented many new automation scripts (from several lines to several pages).  Became very proficient in Perl programming.

·         Designed, developed, and implemented critical backup and restore solutions, to include a critical backup solution for a new IBM AIX Next Generation Fileserver pilot program.

·         Responsible for the maintenance of tape library hardware and assuring stability for backups & restores in the production environment.

·         Management of Auspex NFS fileservers for the Flash Products Division design teams.

·         Developed and enhanced version of fileserver environment audit program to meet customers’ requirements.  This allowed Fileserver group to recycle 1.3TB of disk space, thereby saving over $1.7 million.

·         Standardized Data Storage Management environment for the Flash Products Division to improve data integrity.

·         Management of Folsom Engineering email services, to include testing, piloting, implementing, and administrating latest secure sendmail program for Folsom site.

·         Design and implementation of the Year 2000 test lab for all of Folsom Engineering Computing.

Summer Intern Programmer, Folsom Engineering Services, June to August, 1996

·         Implemented the Network Installation Manager (NIM) for AIX 4.1 on IBM RS6000 machines.  This manager software enabled automatic, unmanned installation of operating system and software over the network.

·         Responsible for the NIM initial implementation and training of fellow employees.

·         Assisted in the deployment of the Intel DeskTop (IDT) workstation, which allows Unix and Windows NT to be accessed from the same Intel architecture machine.
