Pax Americana

Despite reports
To the contrary
The sixties failed.
Our parents didn't change...
MY PARENTS DIDN'T CHANGE!
They stand in the muck
Of the American Dream
(Presented as a four-part miniseries
With only three
Commercial interuptions)
Their hands firmly tied
To the dying gasps
Of their world
Drowned in a sea
Of plastic vacuum sealed
Putrid smog air
That sits brown
On the lifeless soil
Whose carcinogenic chemicals
Grow the very death
That they crave.

And I watch
And I wait
As the revolution within
Greets the dawn.
