Someone was stealing high schools.

There were before and after pictures in the newspaper. One was stolen from around the guards that were sleeping inside of it. The thieves were getting really cocky; during the most recent theft, they left a banner showing the phone number of the next school they were going to steal. So this time, the police did the most logical thing possible:

They hired Hugh Jackman to watch over the next target.

It wasn't clear to me whether he was expected to defend it as Hugh Jackman the actor, or as Wolverine the character, but he was plugging the next X-Men movie, certainly. I drove on down to the school, which was located in the middle of a big traffic roundabout. I got lost, but then I saw my uncle Dave and my brother Steve in a rented BMW 325i and they gave me a ride home.

Then I was driving around Merced in a convertible Cadillac, with Michel M. who (it turned out) had "borrowed" the car from his family. We got into a traffic jam on South Bear Creek Road so we ditched the car in someone's home business/garage and walked out their back door to "Yankee Street" (which doesn't actually exist, at least not in that neighborhood) which took us over to Parsons Avenue.
