I found a really cool record store in some city I'd never visited before (and would likely never visit again). Several of us were there-- I think Jimbo was, and J, and Jeff M, and maybe Matt Washburn.

There was a small techno section (one row of CDs) but virtually everything in that small section was pure gold-- 3" Juno Reactor singles that were never released except as promotional items, weird combinations of some group and a solo artist, live bootlegs, etc. I knew I couldn't really afford to get all this stuff-- even though all the prices were absurdly low-- but I would probably never get another chance to come to this store and I'd never seen (or heard of) any of this stuff before, so I loaded up a couple hundred dollars worth, about twenty different things.

There was also a really weird poster section, lots of band fetish photography (i.e. not the sorts of photos popular artists would normally let themselves be in). There was this set of photos done of this woman who was into really painful looking bondage stuff, who only worked with Patti Labelle (!). Patti, I guess, was working with a lot of bands, and there was a set of Patti and this nude woman (bound in barbed wire, strung across broken glass, whatever) with each of the bands she'd done an album with-- Marilyn Manson was one that was not as surprising, but there were others that were really surprising.

So I bought the poster of Patti Labelle with the Chemical Brothers as well.
