29 June 1994

I was a maple leaf, at a summer camp for leaves of all varieties. It was for both boy and girl leaves. There was another leaf, a girl leaf, but she was not a maple leaf. I don't remember what kind of leaf she was, but she was not of my kind, you see, so it was wrong for me to fall in love with her. But we did fall in love and had to keep it secret from the other leaves.

Finally, after keeping our feelings hidden for the longest time, all the other leaves went off to hunt in the woods, and she and I were left alone. A strong wind came up and we danced around on it as music played. But just as our dance (and the wind) reached a peak, the other leaves returned and saw us, and they swept her away from me. She was dragged to a nearby set of railroad tracks and held down as a train ran over her, shredding her to pieces.

After that, the other leaves left me alone, knowing that I would never make the same mistake again.

As sad as it is, this is possibly my favorite dream ever.
