Zombies start turning up while I'm at school (school being Merced High), in small numbers at first.
Somehow my whole family is also there at school. We get separated, but agree to meet back up in Willits. I escape in an old convertible Thunderbird with two guys and a girl I don't know. Somehow we end up snagging my stepdad John as well.
In Willits, we all gather back together. The zombies are far away; it will take them a long time to find us. We turn on the satellite TV and it's test patterns on station after station, or re-run tapes. The only channels that have live broadcasts tend to show panicked newscasters fighting off zombie attacks with bats and shotguns.
