February 1988

Went to the Hilton in San Francisco; there was a major convention (role-playing games, primarily) being held there. Arnold Schwarzenegger was there, attending the convention to game and buy stuff, not as a guest of honor or for signing autographs. He was trying to be inconspicuous, but it was not really working too well.

The hotel's elevators went up and down at hundreds of miles per hour, and were shaped like Japanese bullet-trains. In the basement of the hotel was my high school, and the Marching 100 (the marching band at my H.S.) was practicing in the lobby, flag girls right in stride.
