Subject: Laundry Blues

Today's Laundry Day -- not because it's any particular day, just because I can't pretend any more that any of my clothes are clean.

Anyway, I've got the Laundry-Day-Ain't-Got-No-Hot-Water-Gotta-Boil- A-Million-Pans-Of-Water Blues... I haven't mentioned it before, but They (the Powers That Be) left a note on our entrance door last month. I managed to translate about half of it (it was very poorly hand-written), and that amounted to notice that there would be no hot water from the 14th of June to the 18th of July. Here we are at the 13th of July, and I'm so absolutely sick of boiling water to do anything. If I have to boil one more pot of water, even to make a cup of tea, I think I'll scream.

This morning I was excited because it's only 5 more days until we're scheduled to have hot water again. Then I found we had no water to the toilet, and that just soured the entire day. (The water's back to the toilet -- I guess someone in another apartment was having major plumbing repairs and they shut off that water main.)

Now my two loads of laundry (how many hours' work????) are dripping dry on the clotheslines above the bathtub. Bela's doing some of his laundry now.

The only consolation I can think of right now is that eight hours of hauling pots of water to and fro *have* to be good exercise ;)
