Marc and Laura's Wedding, June 25, 1995

And I'll bet you thought things would be getting easier once we got to Davis, right? HA!

There were still plent of details to keep us occupied in Davis. Detail #1: Friend/backup bridesmaid Brenna Green and Laura's mother's cousin Brenda Aronson had had reservations at the same hotel. Cousin Brenda became sick and was unable to come, so she called to cancel her reservation. Clerk #1 canceled Brenna's reservation, leaving a note saying "Brenda's reservation canceled", clerk #2, seeing this ,canceled Brenda's room. If you're counting, you realise that this leaves us one room short... and unfortunately, there's some sort of high-school volleyball camp starting at UC Davis that weekend (how did we manage to schedule like this?) so there's not another hotel room to be had. No problem, we've at least got until Saturday night to figure out where Brenna and Jim will sleep...

Oh, and have we mentioned it was hot? Davis sits on a wide, flat floodplain in an area that is noted for its temperate extremes. It being a mere three days after the summer solstice, Davis was beginning to boil. The thermometer hit 100 Fahrenheit on Friday, and the evening news predicted it would go even higher by Sunday. Were we doomed to melt into puddles dressed in black wool and white satin?

Continue into the madness...
