Joe says "John Painter" was the chair of the history dept, that his wife left him when she learned of his affairs, and that he was eventually killed in a motorcycle accident, none of which lines up with Epstein. </div><div><br></div><div>I figured that when writing fiction based on real people you need to throw in a few red herrings. That said, in 1975 Epstein would have been a mere 22 years old. Probably not him.
