MAYBE it could be done for less, it all depends how many people need to be paid and how much. People with professional-level skills, be they artistic or technical, need to be paid for their time. </div>

<div>There is a LOT of work to be done to produce an hour of radio. WAY more than most listeners realize. And given his advanced age ( ha ha ha) Joe would need quite a bit of GOOD help producing and editing etc. It's a matter of energy and time. Without good staff, it would be too personally demanding and Joe would be well advised to avoid it, for health reasons.</div>

<div>There is a certain amount of "free" labor in Public Radio like interns and volunteers, but coordinating these types is a job in itself- and there tends to be a lot of turnover and burn out among volunteers and interns and they often need training etc. etc. so this "resource" has only a limited ability to help with production costs.<br>

I like your suggestion, but give how harshly he was treated by KCRW, would Joe even want to return to KRCW? What about a bi-weekly program on KPCC or KXLU?<br>
