A guy who claims to have been gambling all night can't
remember the name of his motel, goes from one to the other, never
finds it, loses $1,200 worth of stuff.
'I almost flipped out in Manhattan,' - he imagines that people
say negative things about him, want to kill him, threaten him, think
he's gay.
He goes home with a male nurse after a long day working at the
hospital. A pharmacist lives with the nurse. They drink. He doesn't
want to go out driving with them. They end up rolling over in the
pharmacist's pickup.
He tells of drinking in Paris at a gay or transvestite bar,
passing out, waking up in a car the next morning, robbed.
He says he likes creative women but finds most aren't.
He tells of meeting women at the Half Moon Cafe in Albany (New
York) (https://live.staticflickr.com/7365/16395489746_86ff4f8b61_b.jpg).
He's riding around with them when they hit a huge owl, which he keeps.
He collects feathers, talks about their powers.
He describes odd jobs he took in San Francisco, 'I gave some
drugs to some gay people in the Castro district, in San Francisco, IV
drugs, I changed dressing of an old veteran who had an abscess on his
back.' He wanders around in Chinatown and elsewhere.
He wants to go back to Europe, learn to play musical
instruments, paint.
He recalls blacking out in Corning, California, on a bus from
San Francisco to Oregon. Someone slipped some pills into his vodka.
He imagines meeting a nice lady, getting more exercise, how
that would make things better. He laments that he can't meet other
people who want to do creative things with him.
He tells of meeting gay nurses in Albany, finds them boring.
'I'm sometimes baffled at my stupidity after I do something,
like if I pop a few, too many pills...'
He tells of the joy of gambling but calls it sick.
'I've been happy last week, when I was looking at the
wildflowers around the ravine, walking around, that made me happy, you
know, to see things growing beautifully in the country, just freely,
nobody really planted them, they just somehow grew there by the wind,
blowing the seeds, the beautiful purple and red, yellow colors in the
fields, that makes me happy.'

This guy never says he's a nurse. He works in a hospital with
other nurses, so it's fair guess.
