I know I brought this up only about a year ago, but it's kind of an evergreen subject. I've recently begun to wonder if it might not be Catherine of Aragon, first wife of Henry VIII. I think Joe makes some reference to fearing that Kate would be with a more powerful man once they break up, and Henry was certainly a powerful man. And I imagine Henry as the kind of guy who wore loafers without socks. Yes, there is something of a timing issue, but I don't think it's insuperable.
