In reply to: 'will tickets for the third coast performance be available to the general public?
& if so, any idea on when they will be available?
i missed it last year and i was so disappointed... but now heres my chance!'

All I know so far is I've heard some talk that Joe Frank is coming ehre for the next Third Coast festival, don't know if that's confirmed or what. OK, assuming he's going to be here for the festival, then we need to know if he's going to do a PERFORMANCE or even if he's going to address the conferees. We don't know any of this, it's all speculation. Perhaps someone could call the Third Coast people and ask.

If you're going to attend the Third Coast conference, keep in mind that it's about audio and radio "art" and documentary as a whole, not just about Joe Frank. Last year, it cost $235 to attend. Attendence was limited to 250 people on a first-come, first-serve basis. See their web site for info on how last year's thing went: http://www.thirdcoastfestival.org/pages/extras/2003_conference/conference2003.html

Last year they had one "public" event - the Third Coast Audio Cabaret, an evening of presentations of audio work by Gregory Whitehead and Anna Fritz (no Joe Frank) - the tickets for this were $15.

While Joe was not part of the 2003 Third Coast Festival Audio Cabaret, he WAS present to receive an award and gave a little acceptance speech; they also played a little of his KCRW stuff. In order to have seen this 30 minutes of Joe you would have had to pay the $235 which gets you into all of the conference events including the awards ceremony.

Now, MAYBE they are planning to have Joe Frank in the Third Coast Festival Audio Cabaret public presentation for 2004. But who knows?
