I understand that you can purchase tickets for the Awards Ceremony for around $60.00. Third Coast will be recording the 2-hour awards ceremony on the 18th, and Joe has a great speech prepared. In November, 150 NPR stations will air a one- hour special of the Third Coast ceremonies - and (we believe) Joe's speech will be in its entirety in that recording. (You can listen to last year's lifetime achievement award winner, Studs Terkel's acceptance speech on Third Coast's site now.) Stay tuned. PS Joe is on a panel on Saturday morning. Or will there be a ceremony where he accepts his Lifetime Achievement Award, and tearfully thanks Larry Block, Debbie Mae West, Jennifer Ferro and so on..... Or perhaps he'll raise his fist in what used to be known as "The Power Salute" and try to talk about the billions wasted by the current administration, only to be hustled off the stage by embarrassed Third Coast Festival organizers? The mind boggles. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... FYI, this kind of ignorant snobbery doesn't help the Linux cause. BTW, there are bunch of programs that run on Windows that can record whatever is currently playing. I use MP3 Sound Recorder http://www.tongsoft.com/. There's a free version you can play with plus a full version for $29.95 I think. So, either way, you could make MP3's of Joe's work from the Real Audio on his site or the streaming audio from a radio station over the internet. I recommend just buying the high quality audio CDs them directly from Joe. They're worth it. Not sure which ones you want?
