*Instructors*:
Puck Curtis (aka Don Pachomius Oneshoe) - Provost at Arms in Italian
classical foil, epee, and sabre
Eric Myers - Provost at Arms in Italian classical foil, epee, and sabre
Mary Curtis (aka Gabriela D'Avila)
*Description:*
Presenting an intensive 2-day course on Italian Rapier technique
focusing on form, mechanics, theory, and execution. Fencers will be
taught stance, footwork, tempo, attacks, counterattacks, and defense all
based on the work of Ridolfo Capoferro. The class will be presented
using a traditional classical Italian format applied to historical
material and students should expect considerable technical feedback.
Some seminars present a survey of techniques that may expose the student
to the fencing system but don't do much to improve day-to-day fencing
skill. This seminar will intentionally focus on the core of Italian
technique allowing the student to bring the new theory directly into
practice. This 2-day seminar will be useful for any fencer without
practice in the Italian tradition and there is no experience requirement.
*Key material to be covered:*
Blade Mechanics and Physics
The Guard
Footwork
The Lunge
Distance
Tempo
