For one thing, I will be spending the afternoon trying to deal with my broken car way over in Santa Cruz, and I and don't know when I will get home (plus I will probably be a wreck myself afterward), and I don't have any transportation of my own right now to get to a choir practice anyway. In addition, much of the rest of the Choir are the autocrat and head cook for White Shield, and are very busy preparing for that. Sometimes the Fates conspire, and we mortals (yes, I reluctantly admit it) can only adapt. Again, my apologies. This is a disappointment to us, but for this year at least it just can't be helped. Hopefully we can lead a bit of group singing. I, as Bard, also have a new solo piece or two to offer up. Choir Singers: We would at least like to try doing the round "The Bell on the Hill", and maybe lead a sing-along of "Darkwood the Oak of the West", so please practice them. These songs are both available in the "files" section of Darkwood_Choir Yahoo Group, if you don't already have the music for them. Even though White Shield tickets are sold out, this an all day event, and there is plenty to bring out the day-tripper. In addition to plenty of fighting in the White Shield Tourney, there will be the White Glove Rapier tourney, Page School Champion Boffer tourney, Dancing, and the Drum cover art competition, with nifty prizes for winners in adult & youth categories. Don't forget the annual White Shield silent auction. There will also be a cooking competition of Soups. There will be a limited number of camp stoves for warming the soups. After the competition, the soups will be offered to the populace for lunch. You do not need to be a feast ticket holder for lunch. Unfortunately, archery has had to be cancelled due to a crisis in the Baronial Archer's family. Hope to see you all at White Shield!
